Rereading chapter 559 with Kyouraku’s missing eyepatch in mind, this kind of sprung out at me.
In every shot with Nanao, or that is clearly from Nanao’s POV, the absence of the eyepatch is ambiguous. Switching to Haschwald’s POV, there is absolutely no doubt at all that the eyepatch is missing.
The obvious explanation for this is that the Kyouraku that Haschwalth is seeing is an illusion. Which then makes the question, is Nanao creating it with her funky kido? Or is it Aizen.
It could be Nanao. Surely it’s no coincidence that there is a barrier inside the barrier and that this one is segmented. Like a mirror ball. Like maybe it could be reflecting images from somewhere else perhaps.
But, I come back yet again to the fact that Kyouraku sent Unohana and Zaraki down to Mugen to fight. Mugen is the prison level where Aizen is, and we know he can create illusions still because he did it to Yhwach. If this is a red herring, its a huge and badly used one. If not, then maybe Aizen and Kyouraku are now (or perhaps always were) in cahoots.
Because, there’s that whole tea line, and I’m with everyone else on that front. Kyouraku asks you up for sake. Only Aizen invites you over for a cup of tea.
